What is the Esthetician score range?

Written Exam Scoring

  • The written portion typically consists of multiple-choice questions, with each question carrying equal weight. Incorrect answers usually do not penalize the test taker, meaning that guessing is not discouraged if you're unsure of an answer.

  • The total score is often the sum of correctly answered questions, adjusted if a scaled scoring system is used.

Practical Exam Scoring

  • In the practical exam, candidates are evaluated on their ability to perform specific tasks or procedures. Each task is scored based on criteria such as technique, adherence to safety and sanitation protocols, and professionalism.

  • Evaluators might use a checklist for each task, with points awarded for each correctly performed step or component of the procedure.

Understanding Your Score

  • Score Reports: After completing the esthetician exam, candidates receive a score report detailing their performance. This report usually includes the total score, the passing score for the exam, and sometimes, a breakdown of performance by section or category.

  • Retaking the Exam: If you do not pass one or both portions of the exam, the score report will typically include information on how to schedule a retake, along with any applicable waiting periods and fees.
